SailPoint wants autonomous coding agents treated like any other identity that needs onboarding, entitlements, and access review.
On July 29, the company announced the SailPoint Cursor Enterprise connector, which ties Cursor’s AI development workspaces into SailPoint Atlas, its existing governance platform. Rather than standing up a separate control system, the integration routes both human engineers and Cursor’s autonomous background agents through the same lifecycle, entitlement, and certification workflows. SailPoint says the connector is available now.
The security payoff is specific. Agents that gain commit, test, or deploy privileges become non-human identities that most access-review processes never see. Bringing them into Atlas means an agent can be onboarded with scoped entitlements, certified during periodic access reviews, and offboarded when it is retired, closing a blind spot for least-privilege enforcement in the software supply chain.
This sits at a different layer than other agent-security work we have covered. Databricks addresses purpose-scoped authorization at runtime. SailPoint’s play is identity governance and administration (IGA) lifecycle. The practical read: enterprises will likely stack solutions rather than choose one vendor to cover agent identity end to end.
